Hi ML,

The iPAQ 3850 is not bluetooth compatible. I think you need the 3870 model.

I've had my 3850 for years, using it mostly as an MP3 player and address book. The WM2003 makes it more useful for displaying pictures as well. But it is still limited as you need to be tethered to your PC to get your email. However, after letting my 3850 collect dust for many years, I've decided to make some upgrades, purchasing an expansion pack ($60 or less on ebay) so I can use a wireless card ($40 or less on ebay) and GPS card ($60 or less on ebay). If you really want to use the iPAQ 3850 to its fullest, you need to invest a bit.

A few things to keep in mind...

o The 3850 only support 1GB SD memory cards or less, and it cannot
support SDIO.
o Software must be compatible with ARM processor v4 code.

I've been looking for good GPS software to run on this. Microsoft Pocket
Streets 2006 has a GPS locator, that tells you where you are at, but very limited functionality. iGo My Way doesn't work with ARM processor v4, and iGuidance v4 and many newer GPS software wants to load its maps on 2GB cards.

Needless to say, the Expansion pack + wireless card makes the iPAQ much more useful. Now I can browse the web and download my mail at an Internet cafe, hotel, airport, or at home - anywhere free wireless is available.

Good luck!
