I've been doing a lot of research around the interweb and have generally found one answer to the question:
"can the Axim work as a USB Host?"
Which is "No"
However, the intel processor in the axim is supposedly fully capable of handling USB host responsibilities.

I know about the existing USB > CF adapter made by Ratoc, but to be frank, it's too damn expensive

, and besides i live in the UK and that makes it impossible enough to get as it is.
So anyway, after thinking about a solution i came to think;
"the axim connects to the pc via usb and data can be transfered, so why not try to use that port as a usb port?"
I trotted off to eBay to get myself a nice, cheap

Female to female Type A usb adapter, which i recieved today, thinking that, if some pdas have USB host functionality, maybe the drivers will make this work.
Alas, when i plug in my mains powered external hard drive or my USB memory stick, nothing happens.
I expect the reason for this is the lack of drivers to support this type of connection, so i was wondering if any of you bright programmers (of which i hope to be one some day

) would be able to start some sort of project off, if, of course, you think it's at all possible.
FYI, i have an x51v running WM6, my hopes were to use this method to use my iPod as a storage device and be able to work on USB memory stick documents on my PDA
Any help on this would would be greatly appreciated and i am looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks
