It sounds like your card basically uses the Intersil reference drivers. If I remember correctly, those drivers put a small icon in the lower right corner of the today screen that, when tapped, opens the driver utility that will show available networks. This is essentially a sniffer program (it sniffs out networks).
WM03 (which is
Version 4.20.1081 (Build 13100)) has its own utility for showing available networks and there are other 'third party' sniffer programs (WiFiFoFum is one commonly used by members here). Check the WiFi Guide section on
Windows Mobile 2003 setup for the settings using WM03's utility.
The reason I said you may need to check with the IT people is they may need to enter the MAC address for your WiFi card (it's a 12-digit hexadecimal identification that is probably printed on the card) and you'll need any security key they use (you will probably be limited to WEP so if they use WPA you are probably out of options with the X5).
