After about 30 years they'll force you out. Of course, you could retire and not work. I was only 44 when I retired. So, sitting home would not have been practical with a wife and two kids.
With two years of credits you'll go in as a Seaman (E-3), I assume. Unless things have changed. Depending on the school you attend, you may get advanced to E-4 at graduation. :)
I went in as a Seaman too. I made E-4 from an advancement exam before my school graduation. It put me about 6 months ahead of the rest of my class. That may be harder now than it was then. I just had to do all the courses and practicals before the exam date. :rolling:
