Start menu unremoveable duplicate items - Solved
Further investigation (while waiting for someone else to bail me out) has yielded the solution.
In the Japanese version of Windows 2003 on our Axim, there were two start menus, present as folders in the Windows folder. One was named "Start Menu", in English, and was empty. The other was named スタート メニュー (Staato Menyu), and contained all the links.
The problem of the duplicates was due to having links in two places: the Staato Menyu folder itself, and also in the "Programu" folder within Staato Menyu. The problem was fixed by manually removing the duplicate entries which were within the Staato Menyu folder, leaving them alone in the Programu folder.
After that, when I go to Settings/Menu those items were no longer checked and I could check and uncheck items at will.
Thanks to Beth for her suggestions.
