I ended up doing a hard re-set and spent the last few hours getting wifi, bluetooth and Mobipocket back in working order. I was able to do this in large part to the good information on this site.

That's great! Now that you've got the pocket pc back to good working order and before you start getting it loaded up with stuff, take a backup of it. Store the backup file in a safe place on your computer. Then when you perform the next hard reset, you can restore from this backup file and be in really good shape without having to spend a couple of hours again setting these things up.
