I like to make people think! (What can I say?) If I were a Dell tech, I'd try to go beyond "the book" to provide the best support possible. (But that's the old way of doing business, I suppose. At least, I speak better English than they do.) :)
Well, I got the refurbished Axim today. (I honestly didn't expect to receive it so quickly.) Tomorrow, I'll transfer my data and load all my apps. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. Thanks for your interest, and I'll keep you guys posted.
