I pretty much agree with your analogy. BUT, you are likening an "old" os (say WM5 on my x51v) to being obsolete, and it certainly is NOT. The only way I can see your analogy being accurate in this reference is if WM5 somehow turned irreparably corrupt on the device and the pda would not function at all because of that. Then and only then, would what you mentioned be the last resort. I don't really see upgrading to WM6 as a last resort in any other case. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it..."-- as quoted in your sigline.
Let me be clear here, I have no problem with people willing to risk bricking their pda because of the "need" (read want) to upgrade to WM6, it's just not something I'm willing to risk, especially since my pda works fine with the heavy use I give it on a daily basis since I got it almost a year and a half ago. JMHO

No WM5 definetly isnt obsolete, but 2003se on the x50v is getting there. I mean u can still use 2003se just fine, so thats the only error in my analogy.
