Thanks for the feedback. Here are my answers:
1. I only need one vcr. My stereo receiver has connections for 2 vcrs in the back
2. I don't need my old dvd player if I can use the dvd recorder to play
3. my dvd recorder model is: Philips DVDR3390 DVD Recorder
4. my a/v receiver does have video in and out. It has 5.1 surround and it's a sony.
5. tonight I'll take photos of the back of each component.
6. I do plan to record vhs to DVD.

I'll post info and photos tonight. I really appreciate the help!
