Chess is rather popular here seeing that once the initial outlay is stolen back it is a surprisingly cheap game to play. Resourceful, thrifty Scots have even been known to whittle their own pieces in the comfort of their own back yard thereby saving on that initial outlay. Either that or steal your neighbours set!
