I've been checking this out further, activesync does start immediately after fitting the new battery but the settings have not been reset from manual as I left the fake server on to check the settings. So after stopping activesync it does not restart again automatically. Thanks again for this wonderful utility.

I believe Activesync is automatically run whenever a process changes the date/time. It is run as well if I setup oziexplorer to update the time when the GPS is connected and fixed.
