i wholehartedly disagree and ill comment on each "misunderstanding"
1. the iphone is no more expensive to own than any windows mobile phone. in fact in some cases, it may be cheaper. my iphone cost hundreds of dollars less than the htc tytn II i purchased when it came out. it was also less expensive than the hp phones, and the eten i had a while back. and when i initially purchased the first iphone, my unlimited data plan went down $15. how is that more expensive?
2. the iphone has a beautiful and FAST version of google maps installed from the factory. a version of google maps that windows mobile will never be able to reproduce, no matter how many hours the devs spend trying to make the wm interface like that of the apple. the new firmware allows for your current location to be centered on the map. eventually the iphone will have a true gps app, im sure. but for now im not complaining. maps on the iphone is amazing, and you must try it out. integration with other apps, contacts and the ui is just amazing.
3. you CAN tether your iphone, or you can turn your iphone into a hotspot with apps available through the app store. see netshare
4. no cut and paste no cut and paste. this is not a reason to want to lynch the iphoneiacs and their devices. cut and paste wil be here before you know it.
5.the camera for the iphone is great. this is no canon slr. its a phone for god sakes. you have the ability to take a relatively high res shot (with one hand) and fire it out to your flickr account or an email all in seconds. try doing that without a stylus and in less than a minute on a wm device.
6.ok, no stereo bluetooth. big deal. i dont use bluetooth headsets, nor do i use bluetooth headphones. when i do use the iphone for music i have a nice set of earbuds. call me old fashioned.
7.theres no flash for wm yet either. browsers are all racing to get native flash, but have yet to provide anything but youtube videos. and getting flash to work on a wm device requires a few conversations with someone like Werner Ruotsalainen or the guys over at xda devs. anyone who is not a geek who spends hours tinkering will know how to do this, nor will they want to spend the time to get it to work and only sort of.
im sure flash will come to mobile devices eventually, but this is a moot point and in my opinion doesnt take from the iphones far superiority.
so theres my counter points.
just so you guys know. ive been using pdas and smartphones/pocket pcs since the days of the newton and green screened palms. ive been involved in the pocket pc community for some time, and i love gadgets and devices. i dont believe its healthy to get religious about brands or devices. so the point of my post was to clarify that propaganda like that of the linked "blog" is just a waste of space on the internet.
go out and check out an iphone. if your used to the soft resets and the sluggish performance of windows mobile, youll be amazed by the stability, expandability, style and everything else about the iphone.
just so everyone knows, i will be getting a touch pro when it comes out, but ill probably always have the iphone in my pocket ;)
