Some very good points... and some not so good ones there.

1. the iphone is no more expensive to own than any windows mobile phone. in fact in some cases, it may be cheaper. my iphone cost hundreds of dollars less than the htc tytn II i purchased when it came out. it was also less expensive than the hp phones, and the eten i had a while back. and when i initially purchased the first iphone, my unlimited data plan went down $15. how is that more expensive?

It does depend on current market conditions... but at the moment in the UK the numbers work out about the same for an iPhone and an HTC Diamond/Samsung Omnia.
Blackberries can be had for a lot less, but the iPhone = lots more money myth is well and truely busted over here.

2. the iphone has a beautiful and FAST version of google maps installed from the factory. a version of google maps that windows mobile will never be able to reproduce, no matter how many hours the devs spend trying to make the wm interface like that of the apple. the new firmware allows for your current location to be centered on the map. eventually the iphone will have a true gps app, im sure. but for now im not complaining. maps on the iphone is amazing, and you must try it out. integration with other apps, contacts and the ui is just amazing.

No... this one isn't quite as true.... I did have to download google maps from google, but it's as fast as the iphone and certainly as nice. And works great with true GPS

I think it's scheduled for the iPhone 4G

It's probably the reason why there aren't any great wordprocessing apps on the iphone. That and the lack of BT keyboard support.

|
er... I can do it onehanded and I do. so that ones a tie...

You're old fashioned :p Wires are so 20th Century
Stereo earbuds are great. I have a Jabra that connects via bluetooth. I can plug any headphones i like into it. My phone lives in my pocket and I can make calls, change volume, forward/back without picking up my phone. It's such a user friendly 'apple-ish' feature I'm amazed they don't do it. I certainly wouldn't buy a nokia/SE/Samsung/WM phone that wouldn't do this.

im sure flash will come to mobile devices eventually, but this is a moot point and in my opinion doesnt take from the iphones far superiority..[/quote]
I was with you on that one, right until you said the word 'superiority'.. Substitute it for 'advantages' and you have a valid point (there are advantages to symbian phones, and windows mobile phones as well)
so theres my counter points.

go out and check out an iphone. if your used to the soft resets and the sluggish performance of windows mobile, youll be amazed by the stability, expandability, style and everything else about the iphone.
just so everyone knows, i will be getting a touch pro when it comes out, but ill probably always have the iphone in my pocket ;)

Its about getting the right tool for the job for the person... Sure check out the iPhone. It's not the world dominating super phone killer that some people claim it to be... it's not the devil incarnate either. All platforms have problems and strengths. iPhone is no exception.
The Samsung Omnia looks like it would appeal to people who want an iPhone without those 7 problems though.
