Hey Chris, thanks for the great contest....this is the one hoping and praying for. My PDA/Smartphone history isn't even remotely close to your I'm afraid, but still I've had great fun with them.

My first PDA was a odd little beast by the name of Compaq Ipaq 3150. I say odd because the thing had a monochrome and as as Pocket PCs went that was a bit unheard of. The thing had a lot of grunt and I never ever felt like other PDAs out at the time had more CPU power than my Ipaq 3150. The monochrome screen was a major downer in most lighting conditions though as it was generally very hard to read what was on screen.

I remember like all the 3000 series Compaq Ipaqs, my 3150 had an all metal body which felt great but was damn near as slick as ice, which was a bit unfortunate. That slick feeling went away when you needed to use a compact flash card as the device required your to slide on a plastic case that had the compact flash card slot built into it.

My next Pocket PC was the Dell Axim X51v. Needless to say this was a MAJOR upgrade from the Ipaq 3150. I went from a 320x240 Monochrome screen to a 640x480 full color beauty of a screen and an oh so sweet 624mhz cpu vs the old 204mhz cpu of the Ipaq. The dell was and I think still is the PDA to rule all PDAs. In fact the only down I can really think of with the dell of hand is that its only 802.11b which means having it on your 802.11g network will slow the whole network down.

After that I got a Samsung Blackjack i607. The i607 was maybe my first disappointment in the Windows Mobile/Pocket PC world. The phone sucked battery life like there was no tomorrow and then to add insult to injury developed some sort of antenna/reception problem.

I'm now on an AT&T Tilt, which has served me really well. Even though its a QVGA device so things aren't as good looking as on my old Axim, I've found battery life to be much better and the keyboard is REALLY good. At first screen rotation was a bit slow, but after a custom ROM its now lightning fast.

Well I guess that about sums up my PDA/Smartphone history.
