I am using the Gsat BT-359 bluetooth GPS receiver with iGuidance 2009. iGuidance is what came with my BT receiver, but the version that was out when I bought it (3 years ago, I'd guess) was horrible for this area so I ended up using TomTom6 for quite a while. I recently switched back to iGuidance after seeing that it has improved since the version I had. Overall, I now prefer it to TomTom, but that has probably improved in newer versions too.
I use a cheap clip-on mount that I learned about through this forum but it has been a while so I don't know where you can still get them. At the time they were about $6 from Target and it holds the Axim in the extended Sena case with not a MM to spare. It's designed to clip on the AC vents, but I find it works best in my Impala clipped onto the ash tray door. The ash tray is removed and the flap from my case can be tucked back in the slot where it used to be, plus the charging ports are right there. This setup puts the screen at almost a horizontal position where I can glance down at it. Glare is sometimes a problem, but not too bad with full screen brightness.
For my birthday last week, my hubby installed an auxiliary input jack in my Impala and it is SO nice having the GPS and tunes through the car sound system. Previously I used a cassette adapter, but the sound is so much better with the aux. iGuidance gracefully fades down the music when it is giving voice prompts, and then brings it back up to the former level.
For music I use Mortplayer, and don't have a problem with them both running at the same time (plus Pocket Scrobbler) although I try to make sure I do a soft reset before hitting the road or sometimes the volume will be reduced. I have my hard buttons set up to switch between programs and control the most common functions I would need so I can pretty much use both programs without having to look at the screen for more than a quick glance.
