bigds63 recommends Vitualdub. It's free and he's written a tutorial with lots of helpful pictures.

[edit] Yes I use fairuse mostly but DVD catylyst as well to rip for my X50v. I haven't had to change TCPMPs defaulst to view anything I've ripped with them. They work on the X30/High as well but use bigds63's settings for best results on your machine.
