ikehiker,
Much appreciative for all your suggestions. I have taken your advice and tried every channel on the spectrum (1-13). I noticed that all channels show that I am connected but that none save auto, five or six would work in such a way that the green bars at the bottom would show any connectivity (showing green indicating that I am "connected"). I also tried the "work" option and placed the check mark as you had suggested.
Pocketbrain:
I don't seem to be able to get the green bars at all unless I use the Odyssey client so for me it seems the only way to go.
netsyd:
I did all this with the options of my routers "Super G" deactivated as well as mixed mode disabled with the router engaging "11b clients only", as well as all security disabled thus meeting the intent of your suggestion (back to the basics), I believe.
All:
Am I overly optimistic in assuming that I am actually connected when using these (good) channels? I ask this in all sincerity.
The end result is that I have all green bars; the icon of the antennae at the top shows connection with the halo with the two opposing arrows; the default IE browser gives the error "The page you are looking for cannot be found" while Netfront v3.2 says both: "Cannot read page" and "Type:DNS no server is specified" and finally, My messenger doesn't connect nor does Skype.
I did notice that there IS another network in the vicinity that won't go away and I have noticed that this network is using channel 6. The connection is weak and shows to be on all the time so that when I try and remove any channels prior to soft starting the PPC and power cycling the router/modem this network can't be totally removed.
ikehiker (and others),
are there channels that are independent such as you suggested that the States have (1, 6, and 11) over here in Europe or more specifically, Germany?
Again, I am attempting to give as much information as possible in hope that someone in all this experience here could see what I am doing wrong. If you require more specific information just ask. All that I have learned thus far I have learned by reading through the boards here at this site.
Thanks for all the help thus far...:approve:
