If you have green bars then I think you are connected. You should be able to see an IP address assigned by your router. You should also be able to ping your router. I get the same results as you sometimes and it is always because the proxy gets set. I can't figure out why the proxy gets set on mine but it is easy enough to turn off. In the setup page where you selected "internet" or "work" dig a litter deeper and ignore the modem fields. There is an advanced and there you will find use proxy and a proxy server. If this is checked then uncheck it. Works for me.
