sure we can't expect a fix 24 hours after we start ragging on Dell, but it doesn't absolve dell of the absurd lack of care they've demonstrated in selling one of their flagship products.

What I find most disturbing is the near-dead silence from Dell everytime some issue like this pops up. When the SD memory cards Dell was selling on the same page as the axim started fouling up over 6 months ago, when the same cards work fairly well on vast majority of other devices, Dell didn't say anything. Dell didn't even pull the damn things from the customize screen until recently and theyve still barely acknowledged the problem. ("we're working with Sandisk to come up with a solution." yeah, right. talk to happycheesecake.)

Now WM2003 comes out and it starts doing the reverse of what it's supposed to--it slows down the Axim, right when the freaking hp221x's are coming out. sure its not the end of the world. and a handful of people are starting to say that the axim performs quite well in certain areas not heavily discussed. But 5 seconds for the Start Menu to show up? how could NOBODY notice that?

Dell could be a little more forthcoming about what's going on. with the issue being so widely reported how is it that half the techs still don't even know about it?

it'd be really nice if they put something up on their site about it too. of course, that's probably the least likely thing to happen, as it would totally kill business and make them look stupid. (....) Couldn't they at least put a notice up in their own technical forums?? Isn't that what the forums are for?? I bet they've got that one Dell-Rollie guy minding all the forums from the axim to the inspirons to the dell printers and the freaking optiplexes....

I understand that the kind of communication we're looking for is pretty well hindered by Dell's "corporate" status, but in the end all they look like is a company that doesn't really care.

and so much for that theory about delaying the ship dates...the axim I ordered on thursday shipped last night. (OK, normally I WOULDN'T be compaining about this.) I don't mind at all because I know about the issues with WM2003, but if theyre going to take sales on this thing shouldn't they hold off shipping until they get the product fix? I suppose they could stick a note in the box.... ("your axim sucks. we'll fix it in a week or two.")

anyway, whatever. as burns said, no one will care about this in two months.

especially the people who switched to Ipaq.
