I bought my Axim X5 (first PDA) a few months ago. Just tonight I heard about wm2003 and did some searching at google.com. I eventualy wound up at Dell.com looking for a way to upgrade my ppc2002 device. That's when I found these forums and posts about problems with wm2003. Would it be best to just wait a month or so and see what the outcome of everything is before concidering an upgrade? My Axim X5 (400MHz) has been running fine and I am the kind of person who installs lots of programs whether I need them or not; though I have actualy gotten around to uninstalling a few lately.
As to my thoughts towards wm2003, reports say it mosty contains bug fixes which are almost all we can expect from Microsoft. I believe the best option for Dell at this time is to at least offer customers the choice of which operating system is installed on their Axim untill the problems are fixed. Selling poorly compatable hardware and software is just wrong.
I haven't had many problems with Dell, but their support is nothing amazing. Don't you just love it when they transfer your call to a closed department?
