The reason WM2003se uses the compaction thread less is that it is only called when you stored something to BIS. The PIM files, temp files and OS ran out of RAM. With WM5, it is writing to the flash ROM 10x because the PIM, temp files, etc. are being written to the FLASH rom. Thus much more compaction is needed. The more you use the device the more this bug will raise its head. If you're on the craddle a lot if might not bother you but on battery two things will happen - the compaction will suck the battery dead or you can supress the compaction and eventually run out of flash rom and run into a hard-reset/crash fest.

Throtlling the CPU is a band-aid on a severed artery. It will eventually bleed out and die.
