Hmmm...I followed the tutorial exactly and created an xVid movie. I installed the latest stable version of TCPMP and it played fine without installing anything else.
I just checked
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about and it says DivX and Xvid are supported video codes, so if you're using TCPMP you shouldn't have to load any plugins.
