A hard reset will wipe your machine. The reason I suggested it is there's loads of software out there. Some of it good, some bad, some bloody amazing. Go and try it all.... and when you've made your mind up it's nice to have a clean slate, so you can set it up exactly how you like it without all that junk installed.
(but that advice is purely optional... the demo copies are normally full versions.. a registration code just stops them timing out)

Clearvue make a very good powerpoint viewer.. pocketslides is also good (but you have to convert the presentations on your ppc)
