You need to use a program called ActiveSyncToggle on your PC. Google it, and you should come up trumps. The program will disable activesync on your PC until you decide to re-enable it. It is sometimes a bit flaky though. It will not stop your Ax from trying to sync while docked either (as far as I remember).

If you wanted to dock your Ax for charging, but not to switch on and sync constantly, you need to dock your Ax while it's switched on, then immediately turn it off before AS loads on your Ax. It should then stay quiet.
