Bluetooth GPS, Dell Axim x51V, Windows Mobile 5

Hello,

Trying to get my new GPS receiver to talk to the Dell Axim without much luck.

I followed the instuctions from this post.

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=123096

When I go to my GPS application and try to open COM7, it give ,me an error opening COM port 7.

So I tried this post's instructions, except for setting my baud rate to 9600, per my receivers instructions. Same error trying to open COM7.

So, at this point I decided to let WM5 manage the GPS connection. I don't really want to, as I have only 1 applicaiton trying to access the data at this point, but i didn;t see any other options.

Thus, in additon to the setup in the second post above I setup under /Settings/GPS/Programs, the GPS program port to COM6.

and under the /Settings/GPS/Access, I checked on Manage GPS automatically.

I went back to my application and opened COM6. Lo and behold it work...a little. My GPS receiver has an LED indicator to show when a bluetooth connection has been made. It comes on and stays on as long as I keep this port open now. There is a second LED, much like the old modem data inidcators and I can see data is transferring. The unit then starts to search for satellites (which I can also see via LED indicators).

At this point I should be getting data from the receiver to the Axim showing Satellite signal strength, and once the lock is made, lat and long positions, as well as the raw NMEA data.

I get none of that. I know the receiver has a fix (again thru LED indicators) and that the bluetooth connection IS active (LED)

1. Any ideas on how to get the data from teh receiver to the Axim? The other direction seems to be just fine. I did see in the bluetooth setup that you can add an incoming port, but that does not make any sense here as this application expects to talk to A port, not 2 (one for incoming one for outgoing).

2. Any ideas why I had to have WM5 manage the GPS connection to get data moving? It should work just talking on COM7, instead of mapping it to another port.
