Iam using a 4G CF Card of normal speed and a 2G x50 SD Card. I am not finding any difference which one contain maps for GPS. I have *NOT* tried to use card as temp storage yet so my opinion may change.
Personally, I would by the SD card as large as you can get. The SD card just has a nicer fit. The CF Card leaves a gap for bigger dirt to get in.
