Not surprisingly, after the ZDNet article on Dell's admission of the problem, a bunch of yahoos started blaming Microsoft (sorry, doesn't seem to be their fault) and even more weirdly, Sun Java (what the f...?).
But fortunately, Dell has admitted the problem in public. Hopefully, they'll get the patch done quickly and get on with shipping the updates.
I ordered the upgrade (along with some other things I needed) from Dell Canada on Monday 8 July and when it didn't show up on the following Friday was told that it had shipped on the previous Tuesday. When it still hadn't shown up by the following Monday, I called again to be told that it not only hadn't shipped - but that a part of the order was 'backordered'. They couldn't identify which part. (Suuuuure... :)
It's now Friday, two weeks later and the order is still sitting 'in production'.
