True - but there is no point in having higher quality than the VGA screen can resolve.
I find that a 250MB file for a 50 minute video clip gives as good a picture as I could wish for. Virtually DVD quality.
I don't use AGK because I started off using Smart Ripper and Pocket DivxEncoder (now upgraded to Lathe) and I am used to them and find them both very simple to use. I encode at 33 video quality (542 bits) and 6 Audio quality (96 kbps stereo) two pass encoding, de-interlace and VHQ advanced video options and 15 frames per second, which causes no flicker but helps to reduce the load on the processor during playback. The resulting .avi files play perfectly on my X50 using the power saving processor mode.
