Don't sweat it. The Dell is sensitive to small voltage changes. I saw one post where a fellow put a meter on the battery. At 3.00v it was 100% at 2.99v it dropped to 90%! That kind of change in voltage can come just when the battery changes temperature! The batteries Dell shipped are apparently fairly old and may suffer some shelf loss, so they may be near the threshold for the detection circuit. If it bothers you, spend $3 at Radio Shack and get a new one, that action seems to make them rock solid at 100% But most people have discovered that the batteries from Dell end up hovering in the 80-90-100% range. At that level the backup should last well over 24 hours after the main battery died. Theoretically a brand new backup could last 72 hours, but I wouldn't test that theory with my data!
