dont worry about not fully charging the battery on first use. your battery is fine. I did the same thing and mine still operates as well as anybody else's when comparing battery tests.

as for the 30 minute charge time...the only way to tell if the battery is fully charged is to wait until the green light is on. the meter isn't reliable during charges, but accurate enough in normal use.
