THANK YOU! for this bit of info. I had been attempting to sync my 51v for about 9 hours, even leaving it to "sync" for 4 hours and nothing. I followed all the tips on the Microsoft site and even loaded the 4.2 beta verstion of AS. Finally I came across your post, went into my FREE ZA, changed the setting to 'trusted' as you indicated and now I am a happy person!

It would only sync if ZA was shutdown ... which is dangerous, even if you physically disconnect from the internet. If you're like me, someday you may forget to relaunch ZA after a sync.
Anyway, I went to the FIREWALL tab on ZA Free Version, clicked on ZONES, and found the Mobile Device listed as "Internet" under under ZONE. I changed the setting to "TRUSTED" and the PDA synced immediately.
I'm certainly no expert in this field, but after fighting this and finding something that worked, I thought it was worth sharing with other Axim folks.
