I don't really agree with you here either though...the axim dont have leather grips...the black strips on the side are rubber...and thats not exactly a expensive material...USB 1.1 isn't exactly fast connectivity either...even if they used USB 2.0 it won't have costed them that much extra, and OEM deals from Microsoft for OSs is pretty cheap
But most importantly, Dell and M$ is trying to break into this small business/consumer market of next-gen powerful PDAs, alot like what M$ did for the xbox, Dell might not be lossing 100dollars per unit sold, but Dell execs would totally be happy with making a little less profit to gain for market share.
