It was just a month ago that Resco.net released the
1.0 version of their new game,
Resco Sokoban. In the next two weeks after the release, two updated versions have been released:
1.10 and
1.12.
As opposed to version 1.0,
Pros
- The music and sound effects can be separately installed as opposed to version 1.0. They are even stored in a separate CAB file (Sokoban_sfx.ARM.CAB).
- There’re a lot of additional maps and extras to download – for free. Download here; latest version is 1.2 (related announcement here)
- Some of the mistakes in English have been fixed (for example “Informations”).
Cons
- The in-game music is the same (pretty short and a bit on the repetitive side). It’s not that bad though.
- The game is still not controllable with the stylus, as opposed to some other, similar titles; for example, Manoosh by Neuronic Games (of which, unfortunately, there’s still no WM5-compatible version).
- You still can’t zoom into the map on VGA devices. The Resco people, however, promise a solution to this problem.
Verdict
Recommended. There haven't been drastic changes (the lack of the VGA zoom-in and stylus control being the most important); still, the game is worth giving a try.
(I’d also like to point out that
I’ve made a mistake in the review of version 1.0. I’ve rewritten the entire review to reflect the changes. Sorry for the confusion.)
