i got my new Axim Advanced with WM2003 last wednesday.

I have to say it really isnt that bad at all. the start menu is practically as fast as my PPC2002 Axim was, and so is the amount of time it takes for the screen to turn on when you press the power button.

Video? I've watched a whole .avi movie and the little lag that I did get was barely perceptible, in fact I think I got the same lag on my desktop. watched half of an mpeg movie too, no problems.

mp3 playback is basically the same as it was in PPC2002.

It's not fast, that's for sure, but overall my new ax has been pretty good to me. soft resets are more frequent, but not by much. moving data around internally (from RAM to ROM or a memory card) is painstakingly slow, but I rarely need to.

MS reader functions almost as it did in PPC2002. some things take a few seconds to do, like rendering error messages, but actually using the reader is barely any different.

slowdowns seem to occur intermittently, and they can be very annoying. generally though it seems to work OK, and i don't see this as some kind of big ordeal to endure while i wait for two whole weeks (!) for the great big Dell in the sky to finally bestow the WM2003 patch upon us.

on the other hand, I bought my new axim knowing full well that it wouldn't be very impressive til it got fixed. frankly from all the horror stories i was expecting a stone age ppc.

ordered on evening of 7/10/2003, shipped on 7/14/2003, received on 7/16/2003. WM2003 version 4.20.1081, build 13100.
