I bought my x50 a month before receiving the wm5 upgrade. it's not clear to me why others seem to have succeeded in this ghastly endeavor.

Sorry for your ordeal.
Did you buy directly from Dell, with the promise of a free upgrade to WM5, or did you buy the two seperately and or from different sources?
