After you sync your Axim with a PC and have removed it from the dock, you must manually close ActiveSync on your Axim or it will remain running and defeat the purpose of the fake exchange server hack (n.b. if you are not using a 3rd party program that will close apps permanently e.g. Magic Button or Wisbar, you will need to go to Start > Settings > System > Memory > Running Programs and Stop it manually). This could be why some people have had no luck with the hack.

I closed AS that way, but after soft reset it was running :) Like it was placed to startup folder. Closed again and SF - running. It was repeating until I cradled my Axim.

I dont know time period for A12 ROM and if there is such period, but it's not even 30 minutes for me. It very upsets me because I cant find out if there is a problem and try to fix it. All yesterdays evening AS was silent. But when I turned on my device tomorrow morning, AS was in Running Programs menu.
Have just created fake server to check if the schedule setting saved. They reverted to "As items arrived" as many users wrote. It's seemes that setting are not saved after server deleting. If not to delete fake server they are saved.
I'll try not to delete fake server...
