ActiveSync wont run on Vista. So you have to use the built-in Mobile Device Sync Centre. This is going through a number of revisions at present as new versions of Vista are made available through different channels.
So I decided that expecting it to support a ROM upgrade for my Axim was just to much - so a boot into XP for the ROM upgrade seemed like a good idea.
