TCPMP To Be Renamed To BetaPlayer (Open Source,Free) and CorePlayer (Commercial)

UPDATE: Visit www.coreplayer.com to buy the latest version and www.corecodec.com/forum to view information related to the product and other versions. The original post can be viewed below:

Let me tell you what is going on and what you all should prepare for as we get ready for our 1.0 releases. But before that... let me break down each version of our player.

- TCPMP will be renamed back to BetaPlayer™ and will be our Open Source playground for testing new technologies for third party licensing.
- Giving birth will be the long awaited CorePlayer™ , it will be our Closed Source version with a lot of features not available in BetaPlayer.

TCPMP=BetaPlayer 1.0 but is more stable, has skins, has new streaming code for UDP/HTTP, supports our new CoreMAKE system (see www.coremake.com ) and has everything you loved in TCPMP.

On the otherhand while CorePlayer shares the code base of BetaPlayer it is targeted to a much more demanding segment that requires an expandable framework and supports anything you can throw at it (which it does).

CorePlayer will also feature: an entirely new GUI interface, Advanced Streaming, UPNP support, Integrated webserver, Client Database...

What OS's?: CE, Windows Mobile, Windows, .NET, Palm, Symbian, Brew, OS X, MacTel, Java, Linux GTK, Linux QT, Linux Qtopia, Linux Freescale.

Oh... I should have also stated the obvious... BetaPlayer is GPL licensed while CorePlayer is Closed Source.

CorePlayer also has several versions:

- CorePlayer Mobile
- CorePlayer Desktop
- CorePlayerX Web Browser plug-in for IE, FireFox, Netscape, Mozilla and Opera 9
- CorePlayer Embedded, allows you to add our player into third party applications running CE and Windows.
- CorePlayer Multimedia Engine is the future audio/video in games (more info later)
- CorePlayer DS is a Directshow wrapper version of CorePlayer Desktop... it allows you to harness the power of directshow and use it with the CP framework.
- CorePlayer PMP

BetaPlayer will come with all the Open Source decoders. But CorePlayer comes with our own decoders we have been developing over the past 18 months which will vary on the product, they are;

- CoreAVC
- CoreASP
- CoreVC1
- CoreAAC
- CoreMP3
- CoreDVD
- CoreAC3
- CoreDTS
- WMA
- WMV

The only other source that is allowed under a closed source license that we use are:

I can report that the 0.81 beta that has been going around is a complete fake.... and not a good fake either ;-/

The CorePlayer Technology Demo will be released next week, however its by invitation only and CorePlayer 1.0 will be a few weeks afterwards.

We will be making announcements soon on our OEM side of things once our new corporate website launchs and we bring up CorePlayer.com.
