As over a prolonged use of about two years, I needed to hard reset my X50V. It was a long due owing to some buggy programs-files etc. i couldn't even delet with file explorers. I managed with sprite backup til date. While re-configuring my X50V, here is what I learned.
(1) First of all try to install all (every) programs on a storage card (if reinstalling) and when you learn that it never works from a storage card (some programs must be installed to RAM), then try to install it again on BIS and when finally when it doesn't wven work from there, only then install it to main RAM. This is true with a very few programs like SIP (keyboards etc.). You will learn than almost 90% programs can run from a storage card and if not, sure from BIS.
True, many programs don't need main memory. Only today plugins, and other neccesary for system to run progs.
(2) However, before step (1), if you have not removed any thing from storage cards or BIS during hard reset (because hard reset doesn't delet anything on a storage card or BIS), then try to run .EXE of a previously installed (on a storage card/BIS) program and if it runs (most will run!), YOU do not need to re-install it or do anything further. JUST creat a shortcut to that particular program and put that short cut to Windows/StartMenu (Or where ever you desire) and voila! That is as good as an installed program.
Yes, this saves extra registry keys being created from an install. They just make the registry ugly.
(3) Thus when you notice that 90% programs can be reclaimed without any re-install by just creating links to .EXE files. So after a hard-reset and following above steps, you will notice that you have just 5 to 10 programs actually installed, while you may have 50 or more programs just regained from links to .EXE. So you save a lot of main RAM, get a cleaner device and a very few programs to install actually.
That can be good and bad. Your going to have to remove those programs manually, but you also saved a reg key. Good, b/c you dont have a long list of progs.
Correct me if I an wrong. Cheers!

This is true, and good advice for hard resetting. Nice job, rook.
