Just to balance things, I've had two Palms and ended up giving both of them away to people I didn't care about because they were so useless and hard to use that I didn't want to give them to a friend and lose that friend. On the other hand, I've had no problems with any PocketPC (HP, Casio, now Dell) that wasn't quickly resolved. My Ax is right now connected to my laptop, which is connected to my client's network, through which I tunnel to get to my Lotus Notes mail server. Whenever my calendar changes because someone in my company calls a meeting through Notes, Notes pushes the change down to the Ax, which then pushes the change back through Activesync to Outlook on the laptop. So, all I have to do is detach the sync cables and take the Ax to any meeting I may have, do whatever I need to do (make a new appointment, for example) come back to the laptop and reconnect and all my calendars get updated automatically. I also have PocketInformant running to keep track of my day and Snoopsoft Dashboard running to provide menues for my applications the way I like them presented. And at the same time I can access the files on the Ax from the laptop through Activesync so that I can pull and push files I want/need to take with me. I'm not running it now, but I have also had the media player playing music while all that happened. Palm never could keep that straight. It had troubles just trying to keep my calendar straight.
All of which is to say, it balances out. Some folks love the PPC, others don't. Some want that 200 mph, some want the 4x4. If the Palm single processing, simple minded machine meets your needs, go for it. For me, I'll take the 200 mph, multi processing Ax, thank you.
