There is one advantage of the 300Mhz clocked basic... the battery last longer.

Personally.... I use XCPUScalar as follows...

CPU Load Speed
0-15% 100Mhz (it's pretty rare that it drops down this low)
16-50% 200Mhz
51-75% 400Mhz
76-100% 472Mhz.
