I took Kenvan54's suggestion, and simply unchecking everything and bringing them back one by one got rid of the problem without having to do anything else. I suspect the problem with my system was due to email, because I had done something on the device I had never done before (clicked a sender name that wasn't in my contacts and was prompted to add a contact for them), and the problem started on my next sync immediately afterward.

Fortunately, unchecking all of the sync options and adding them back one at a time got everything syncing up again without any problems or errors, so one of them did the trick.

Thanks for the suggestion! I was just starting to get really frustrated with this error when I came across this thread.

I do have to say, ActiveSync is bar none the worst piece of software I have ever dealt with when it comes to debugging problems. No error I have seen thus far gives nearly enough information to fix it, and most give you next to nothing at all. There are no details, you can't get to the logs from within the program, and when you do open the log files there is almost never anything useful in them anyway.

Granted, ActiveSync has been pretty stable and reliable for me, which I am very thankful for given some of the posts I've read about problems with it, but the software feels very much like an afterthought. I get the impression MS put next to no effort into design, usability, or features and just opted to design a very basic program to fulfill the function. Somewhat disappointing, but at least I've had decent luck with it so far.
