sounds like a corrupt FAT. If the card is new I'd replace it, just in case it's hardware related. If you've had it for a while then you need to reformat the card. PPC cannot do this "out of the box" so if you have a card reader or a digital camera etc. you can do it. If not then you need to get something like this:
