For those who have trouble to update from A06 to A12, indeed I went through many obstacles too and finally the success is done on another Dell laptop which is considered a fairly new unit from my wife. Not many applications have been installed on it besides those standard Microsoft Office and few other security program.
The procedure or steps on the success trial is quite straight forward as is said in the update utility screen plus making sure you have Microsoft Activesync 4.2
My previous update failures on the 3 Axim X51V over two desktops made me believe it was the hardware version of X51V - A01 because this was the commonality of those 3 Axim X51V. I had turned off many services or agents running on the two desktops to make sure no other hidden application affecting the update but it was still failed until I switched to my wife computer (3rd laptops).
With all these tests and trials I have experienced with this updates, I conclude the desktop or laptops that is used to update is very important and the update utility was not able to tell what is stopping the process. :realmad:
Again, if you think you have done the steps listed from the update procedure with MS AS 4.2 installed and the update is still failed or stopped after the first the "hard reset", please try another desktop or laptop to work with. Find a cleaner one to be installed. I have done so many trials on this update on all 3 Axim. Each of them takes over 10 different times with different twicks in the past two weeks. Dell has been helpful to send me replacment one at a time after each failure. And finally, someone in the this forum confirm the update can be done on A01 hardware as well. This make me to try on the 3rd desktop and prove it works finally.
