The best one i've found is MortPlayer - totally free, and has ALL the features you need!
My favourite is you can assign a button to turn off the screen, while still playing music. You can listed for HOURS on the standard battery if you do that.
I also use GPS, and mortplayer plays fine in the background, and never skips.
It also has various default bass/treble/etc settings, or you can custom tweak it to your liking.
