I can't speak for everybody (yet) But I'll sure the heck speak for me....
Intellectual curiosity, plain and simple. If I got it to load, would I keep on there? Probably not. Doesn't stop me from being insanely curious as to whether or not I have the technical ability to make it work. Is it a risk to my AXIM? You bet. So what. Risk has always been the price for reward.
Why do people try to climb Mt. Everest when they know they are risking life and limb just to climb a big pile of rocks? Just to see if they can do it? You bet. I'd never do it, because I think it is an unwarranted risk. Almost "maddness',' as you put it.
But, I fully understand their drive and desire to try to accomplish something monumental, just to see if it can be done. And I applaud them for it. I don't sit back and judge them because I don't agree with what they are doing.
Be it mental or physical, the drive is the same...
I overclock my PCs and my Axim. I soup up my cars and jetskis, my lawnmower, my leafblower, my Wireless Access Point... just to see if it can be done. I take apart just about everything I own to see if it can be improved. Have I ruined lots of stuff in the process? You bet. Regret it? Never.
Face it... you owe your PC, your Axim and most of your tech gadgets to the breed of engineers and developers who are always looking to push the envelope, instead of playing it safe.
As for those of you you are saying that "We are jepordizing your ability to upgrade".... that's the biggest load of paranoid self-righteous clap-trap I have heard in a long time. I was laughing as I read it until I saw you were serious.
It's a PDA. Don't act like it is some kind of heart-lung machine. Chill out, you'll live much longer.
