Soft resets are the norm. This is, after all, a Microsoft OS. ;)
I notice I have to do soft resets more often after leaving lots of tasks running. Also, Microsoft reader seems to take a lot of resources, I'm more likely to have to soft reset if that's open.
If you think about it, you might find a program that is causing your problem. There's lots of software out there. Some of it is well behaved. Some is not.
