No, i dont think. B/c the rom files are stukk there, your just putting files in the ram that hide the rom files.
Ive had xp sounds overtop of the default sounds for almost a year, and all soft/hard resets, backups, etc with the sounds have been fine.
After a hard reset sounds go back to default, then you restore your backup and the sounds are back.
