is there anyway to make the sound louder. i ripped a dvd, converted to avi, but the sound is so quite its not watchable unless you wear headphones.

The tiny speaker on the Axim is MONO only and volume is wimpy, at best. For STEREO, you must use headphones.
PocketMVP's equalizer (File - Settings - Equalizer) does have a preamp feature that can help a bit.
Remapping of the Axim buttons (File - Settings - Configue) to NOT include volume (so you won't accidentally change volume) might help. I thought my Axim had died when I dropped it in my pants pocket and the volume slowly disappeared. The side jog button was tied to the volume and was activated while in the pocket.
