Next I brought up the registry editor and tried to change the name of the key. No luck. It doesn't matter if I change first the value data or try to rename. It results in the error.
The thing is that synching actually works after a soft reset and switching the RNDIS off even without changing the name, but the GPS is all confused because it wants to use one of these ports as well and it works over the BT. The GPS works fine until I start playing with the registry.
Grrr, I'm feeling like I have Windows 3.11 again.... :bang: Help would be most appreciated. (see frustration? :))
Thanks,

Follow up:
synching works if I change all settings for Serial8 to look like it's Serial6 even without renaming the key itself.
GPS works if I change all settings for the Serial8 back to the original settings...
Soft reset is required after the registry changes.
Obviously this is not what I'm looking for but it will do for a couple of days until I figure out what to do...

How about creating a new registry entry named serial6 that has all the same information as serial8. Not sure if this will work because I haven't tried it my self. Kinda scared to start screwing with it again because it is finally working. I'll keep looking to see if I see something on why you cannot change serial8 to serial6.
